🍰 Define your page templates
Updated: Nov 16, 2020
In this article, I want to highlight the advantages of using page layouts in modern SharePoint sites.
For this slice of cake, you should be familiar with:
✔ How to use and create page templates, Microsoft documentation
✔ How to use the news web part on a SharePoint page, Microsoft support website
When you work in SharePoint, you will be creating lots of pages and news. Often you want to reuse the same layout for several pages.
Example: You create news items, and you forget to add an image to the news page
When you create news in SharePoint online and don’t provide an image on that page, the news items’ layout will be really a pity.
Solution: you could provide a template with a header image for news articles.

Or maybe you have some web parts (Example: service links) that should be available on every page. You can create and save the desired page template as necessary.
As an example, I have created a service page template with service links on the right side.

It is super easy. When you create a page, you can define the template and just save it as a template.
